The Historic Thompson House
The Historic Thompson House
Enjoy a slice of Telluride history while experiencing modern comforts and the local mountain lifestyle. Located in a premier residential neighborhood of downtown Telluride, the Historic Thompson House can be traced back to 1898 and the early 20th century when the Thompson family settled here from Finland. The home was then kept in the family all the way through the 1970s. In 2023, new owners completed a to-the-studs remodel and redesign that you can now enjoy. The home is located on a sunny, oversized lot with ideal south-facing views of the mountain and ski runs. It s an easy two-block walk to lift seven and the gondola, where Mountain Village is a picturesque ride away! Just a short walk to the main street shops and restaurants, it is also one block from one of the area s trendiest bars, a wine store, a popular restaurant, and the beautiful San Miguel River trail.
The main home s open layout includes four bedrooms with private baths, a large living room with a fireplace, and plenty of comfortable seating. There is a modern kitchen even the most demanding chef will admire, with state-of-art appliances, a powder room, a mud room with plenty of hooks for your winter coats, and a Sonos sound system. Two of the three upstairs bedrooms include a King bed, while the third upstairs bedroom includes two twin beds. Downstairs, you ll find another great area for gathering, with the 4th bedroom/bathroom (including a King bed that can be configured as two twin beds), a bonus room, bar, dining area, and a washer and dryer. Step outside with a covered front porch that looks out to the mountain and an oversized side deck with a comfortable seating area, BBQ, and hot tub. A large dining table is outside to enjoy the BBQ in warmer months.
In addition to the main home, a separate space we affectionately call the Alley House was constructed in 2023 and is available on a request basis, rounding out this beautiful property. The Alley House has it all: a separate entrance, kitchenette, cozy dining area, queen bed, laundry, and west-facing deck with 180-degree mountain views. With all the separate spaces, small families or groups of friends can retreat to their private areas while still having The Big House to gather. Access through the rear alley is a heated two-car garage and an outside parking space.
The 4-bedroom home can be rented with or without the Alley House. Please call for pricing to add the extra lovely space.
